THE BAROQUE ART

REMBRANT

Rembrant way was prepaid spirit valley by the protestant reformation and the Dutch aspiration to freedom and formally by the venetin painter, Rubens and Caravaggio and his Dutch imitators.

Rembrant used painting as a method for probing the states of the human soul, both in portraiture and in his uniquely personal and authentic illustration of the scriptures.

His art is that of a believing christen, a poet of the spiritual convinced that the biblical massage must be interpreted for human beings in human terms.
In Rembrant the humanization of medieral religion now completed in the vision of a single believer.

Rembrant’s pictorial me that in volves refining light and shades into finer and muances, until they blend with one another. The use of abrupt light & dark gives way in the works of man like Rembrant and although the dramatic effects of violent chiaroscuro may be sacrificed the artist gain much of the truth of actual appearance. This happens, because the eye perceives light & dark not as static but always subtly exchanging. Changing light and dark can suggest changing human moods.

We might say that the motions of light through a space and across human feature can express emotions. Light atmosphere, change and motion are all concerns of baroque art as well as of baroque mathematic and physics.
Baroque painter discovers degree of light and dark of difference in pase in movements of facial feature and in physics states.

They arrive at these differences optically not conceptual or in terms of ideal.
Remberant found that by manipulating light and shade in terms of direction. Intensity, distance and texture surface. The famous paintings of Rembrant are:-

1. The Night watch.
2. The Blinding of Somason.
3. Self Portrait
4. The Polish Rider.
5. Tobit and Anna with the Kids.
6. The Return of the Prodigal Son.
