THE BAROQUE ART
Introduction
The Baroque art period is from 17th to 18th century. The age known to be the middle of Renaissance & the modern period, n this period, art got importance in churches, cathedrals & palaces. The subject for the painting was drawn from the Bible, classical history like the earlier techniques.
In the Baroque period also there were many great artists. The great artists of this period were:-
1. Gianlorenzo Bernini
2. Caravaggio
3. Peter Paul rubbens
4. Rembrant
They had tried to understand the earlier classical art artistically especially Roman art.
It is said that the baroque style express this spirit of the Counter Reformation. Yet the counter reformation of a force movement of self renewal within the Catholic Church had already done its work by 1600. The princess of the church who supported the growth of baroque art was not religious. But were busy and enjoying the joys of the world. It is a great problem to say that Baroque is of the world. “THE STYLE OF THE ABSOLUTISM”
During the 17th century . Scientific, philosophical thought became very complex, abstract and systematic for an artist to have gravitation, calculs and cogits, ergo. Some could not set his imagination. This entire means that baroque art is not simply the result of religious, political or intellectual development.
Around 1600 Rome become the main centre of the Baroque art. It is a century before the Rome was the centre of high Renaissance by gathering artist from other regions to perform excellent new works, foremost was a painter of general called Caravaggio.
Baroque art was spread outside the churches and courts by the painter are Goya and Rembrandt. In protestaint countries as Holland, England, Paris or Germany. The painting of religious subjects stopped completely. In 19th century baroque art was decaying. The Baroque art aws glorified by a complete ruler by it found no favor with the democratic spirit of era.
The Renaissance style was known a plastic, where as Baroque as painterly.
The plastic character of Renaissance art is defined though the outline and solid color that attracts our feelings. As in Raphael painting “Madonna” and in painterly character of Baroque art soft outline in light and shades appears to our eyes as in Rembrandt paintings. In Baroque painting great attention was paid to space and used light and color to put and to its form sculpture and architecture depended for effect on the use of light and shade.
Baroque architecture armed at dramatic effects and Baroque sculpture shows emotions greatly.
From Gothic, Baroque art solved it problems to express the super natural and an interest in nature closely observed. From the Renaissance the Baroque took the use of Classical form in architecture.
