Asit Kumar Halder

He was one of the main artist of Bengal school known as the poet artist. He was also an art critic of a high order with many specialties and was a philosopher also. He was a sculpture and a craftsman of consummate skill. His paintings look like passionate songs in line and color.




After finishing his education of art. He was appointed the head of the painting department at Shanty Nikaten an then he worked as a principal of Government collage of art and craft at Lucknow and Jaipur . he prepared true copies of paintings of Ajanta, Bagh and Jogimara and combined the Mugal and Rajput style in his paintings. He also painted the general life together with Puranik themes. The Haridwar merchant ManaKali, Akbar and kunal some of his famous paintings.
Besides being an artist he was a writer and a thinker who translated Meghdoot in Bengali and also painted its themes.
