Mugal school in Akbar style (1556-1605)
Akbar was hardly 13yrs old when he came to thrown in 1556 A.D. he was an intelligent and liberal king. He took delight in learning good things of different religion. He started a new religion Deen-e-illahi. The aim of which was to compromisers. He became very popular became of his greatness and generosity. He married Jodha Bai, sister of Raja Mann Singh.
Salim, the son of Jodha inherited the thrown and assumed the name of Jahangir, also had the same compromising attitude.
Akbar was interested in painting since childhood. In Aine-E-Akbari, Akbar gave great regard to painter and rewarded them for good composition. The paintings of his time were almost parallel to those of behzad painting as, one can see their color schemes improved. Both Hindu and Muslim artist were there in his court.
Some Important artist of Mugal School
Meer-Saheed Ali Tarbez:- He was born at Tarbez in Iran was a great artist. He started the Mugal School after amalgamating the art of India with that of Iran. He came to India as the result of request of Humayun when Humayun took refuse at the court of Shah Tahmashp of Iran. Manuscript of Hamza Nam was painted under his supervision
Khwaza Abdhu Ismad of Shiraaz:- he was the director of art gallery of Fateh Pur Sikri at the time of Akbar who honored him with Sheri Kalan. He was born at the famous art centre Sinhraj of Iran. He taught paintings to both Humayun and Akbar was the follower of Din-E-Illahi.
Dasvant:- He was a kahaar (doli uthane wala) by birth. Best among the Hindu artist. He used to live palanqucines (palki) in his leisure time. He used to sketch on wall, Akbar saw him, took into Abdu Samadh under whose direction he became a great artist. Most of the paintings of Ramzanand were executed by him. He gave Hindu touch to Iranian School of painting painted God and Goddess. In 1584 he committed suicide in insanity.
Baswan:- He was among the best artist in portrait painting, background and scenes. He was unparallel in expressing different emotions in human figures. His son Manohar was a famous painter in Jahangir time. Other artists were Mukund, Madh, Tara, Ram, Jagan etc.
Akbar was found of portraits. He himself used to sit for his own portrait painting and got several portraits of his courtier painter.
Akbar got several books painted Dastaan-E-amirhamza was completed in 12 volumes. Other books were ChangezNama, Razma Nama, Ramayan, Naladamn kalia doman or Ayar Danish were also translated and painted.
